What is the Reformed Baptist Church? In order to understand the Reformed Baptist Church, we need to answer two preliminary questions: To be Baptist is to be part of a church or denomination that, broadly speaking, holds to adult believer baptism typically by full immersion following a credible statement of faith as the only biblically acceptable way to administer the ordinance of baptism as commanded by our Lord in his Great Commission Matthew Baptists also generally believe in the autonomy of the local congregation over the more hierarchically structured denominations such as Roman Catholicism which is based on an episcopal model of church government and Presbyterianism which is based on a presbyterian model of church government. Within this broad category there are many different types of Baptists who hold various views on soteriology doctrine of salvation and ecclesiology church structure and governance. Some fundamentalist Baptist groups hold that the King James Version of the Bible is the only true, inspired version of the Bible in the English language. Other Baptist groups are so theologically liberal that they fall outside the boundaries of what is generally accepted as orthodox. All this to say that Baptists come in many different shapes and sizes, but nominally they are all unified on the doctrine of adult believer baptism. Baptist history is also a bit difficult to trace. There are some Baptist groups that claim the Baptist tradition can be traced in an unbroken line back to New Testament times, somewhat akin to the Roman Catholic tradition of papal succession.

We strive to be a community of deeply connected believers who form long lasting bonds of friendship. We were both somewhat reluctant users experiencing a long period of waiting before the LORD brought us together online. But God nudged us to carry on and to pray. We finally spoke on the phone and had a 3 to 4 hour conversation.
From there, after more prayer seeking the Lord’s will versus that of our own, the Lord placed on both of our hearts to meet in person on Easter weekend, it was the beginning of a sweet friendship that led us to be engaged in September when Peter proposed aboard the USS Intrepid and we were married on July 7, SGS was the catalyst to bring us to be united as one in Christ.

Of course it is always better if you and your wife are in lock step agreement about everything theologically. But I, for one, don’t think it is necessary. If this woman is willing to submit to you then I see no necessary reason to call it off. Most of the Reformed women I know were “converted” by means of their husbands. Most Christian women respect their husbands. As a result, most women find themselves thinking, “If my husband whom I respect thinks this way, then perhaps I should consider it The most important thing I tell my single friend to look for in a possible mate is that she would be biblically submissive and teachable.
That’s the way it was with my wife. She was an ex-catholic, and I was a Lutheran turned evagellyfish. When I came to Calvinism, and later explained it to her, she had a day or two of the “that’s not fair’s”, but after that was able to talk about it and understand it without much difficulty. Later, we became heavily involved in a “Reformed” Baptist church plant. I even was teaching and preaching occasionally, and had become a deacon.
Then I came around to paeodbaptism, high-church presbyterianism, etc, and needed to resign my office and give up teaching. When I told my wife, it was in the context of a verse our pastor had referenced in the sermon that morning – Q:

Barcellos Neither are the aforementioned uses of the law contrary to the grace of the Gospel, but do sweetly comply with it. First, because this is what we confess as confessional, associational churches. It is, therefore, what we believe the Bible teaches. Second, because it is one of those confessional assertions that is often misunderstood and, in our day, denied by prominent evangelicals. This last reason will be examined more fully in the conclusion.

Baptism is the ordinance instituted by Christ on the eve of His Ascension to heaven Matt Though the washing of regeneration and sprinkling with the blood of Christ cf. The word of institution points in the same direction, for baptism into the name of the persons of the Godhead means baptism into union with and the discipleship of the three persons. In accord with Numbers 6: Though the accent falls on union with Christ, the Father and Holy Spirit are also necessarily embraced in the bond signified by this ordinance.
About This Site Thank you for visiting. I was a member of a spiritually abusive Independent Fundamental Baptist Church for a little over 25 years. The focus of this site, therefore, is the issue of spiritual abuse and deception in the IFB churches. This site also has a secondary emphasis on other Christian churches, but will mostly focus on the IFB Denomination.
Like others who have similar sites, the reason for concentrating on the Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination is simply due to personal experience. Most Baptist churches are very similar to the IFB. Some are a little different and may be less strict or have different stances on scripture, but for the most part they are all very similar. I can really only speak from my experiences so that is why this site is singling out the IFB. Much of what you will read here comes directly from my personal experience.
Much of the information contained within this site can be generalized to other churches, but not all of it. I will let you, the reader, determine which applies to you and your unique situation.

After having read in parts about the history of the Counter-Reformation, the Jesuit Order was fully established on September 27, which is just 23 years after the start of the Reformation by Martin Luther. Calvin himself once went to school with Loyola in the University of Paris, never dreaming that the two would eventually battle with each other.
What is commonly missing in most of the history of the Jesuits is the encounter that Calvin had against its founder Loyola. Spurious “Christians” were exposed and the statement from the Bible was raised saying, “For the just shall live by faith.

Think of the abuser as a con artist. Pastors and other spiritual leaders become adept at using spcipture to back up their subtle manipulation and control. Leaders often find ways to control, not only what happens in their churches, but also what happens in Your personal life. For example, leaders in the Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination would frequently communicate the need for us to consult with them or your discipler before making decisions especially major decisions.
Fratranizing with people who have left the church is strictly forbidden. The message was that the Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination had the monopoly on the gospel message and the only way to be truly saved was to get saved from the message that the Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination brings. Spiritual abuse often leads people to question their spirituality or standing with God. I remember when an older girl who had graduated from our school came back from college and her hair was died.
Churches that abuse often focus on the penalty for sin.
